Richard Vachon is the managing partner within our firm who, since 2002, practices mainly in the fields of commercial litigation, class actions, litigation in securities, defamation, and employment law. He pleads regularly before the courts of first instance and the Court of Appeal of Quebec as well as arbitration tribunals. He also acts as strategic advisor to many of his clients.

Represents Irving Group in the contestation of Anton Pillar proceedings;
Represents Vincent Chiara and Groupe Mach Inc. in defamation lawsuits;
In the context of the Castor Holdings litigation, he represents Chrysler Canada Inc. and CIBC Mellon Trust Company a $165 million lawsuit against Coopers & Lybrand and others in relation to auditors' professional liability.
Represents a major French corporation in defence of a class action.
Represents the biggest global provider of catering services for aircrafts and trains in the context of a complex commercial arbitration.
Represents several public corporations in the mining industry.
Represented Groupe TVA Inc., Serge Fortin, Pierre Bruneau, and Paul Larocque against Gesca Ltd., La Presse Ltd., Cyberpresse Inc., Patrick Lagacé, and Richard Therrien in a defamation lawsuit.
Represented individuals in public inquiries;
Represented Saputo Inc. and Lino Saputo Sr. in a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit instituted against the Canadian media.
Represented Quebecor Inc., Quebecor Média Inc., Vidéotron ltée, and Pierre Karl Péladeau against the Société Radio-Canada, Sylvain Lafrance, and Robert Rabinovitch in a defamation lawsuit.
Represented Desjardins Securities Inc. against RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Caroline Lambert, and Geneviève Casavant where the Woods team secured a provisional injunction and an order of protection regarding a non-solicitation clause.
Represented Desjardins Securities Inc. against TD Waterhouse Canada Inc., Francis Vandal, Philippe Cordeau, and Isabelle Lemay where the Woods team once again secured the applicability of a non-solicitation clause.
Represented Honda Canada Inc. in defence of a class action.
Represented several high level executives in the field of employment law.
